Prairie Center Offers Exciting 2022-2023 Season

Have you visited the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts lately? If you haven’t, you are missing out on a local gem where you can find some really great performances. The center recently announced its 2022-2023 season and this one will sure to have you guessing what’s next. Below are some highlights of shows you don’t want to miss.

Delmark Records 70th Anniversary Blues Revue (Oct. 22)

An epic night of blues music as veritable Chicago label Delmark Records celebrates its 70th anniversary with three prominent acts. First, the original driving houserockin’ blues, boogie and Soul of Dave Weld & The Imperial Flames hits the stage with guest artist, harmonica player Pierre Lacocque. Then, the versatile Mike Wheeler Band delivers “old school for the new century” (Blues Blast), joined by singer and Blues Music Award nominee Demetria Taylor. The evening closes with the “global ambassador of Chicago Blues” (Chicago Sun-Times) Dave Specter Band with Delta roots guitarist/singer Jimmy Burns.

Broadway Rocks (Nov. 11-12)

A scintillating concert showcasing five decades of rock musicals, performed by the Chicago area’s best singers and backed by a full band. Songs from classic Broadway shows such as Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and Little Shop of Horrors are mixed with pop/rock songs from newer musicals including American Idiot, Hamilton, Six, and many more. Complete with concert sound and stadium lighting, Broadway Rocks promises to be a rock concert unlike any other. (Contains language unsuitable for younger or more sensitive viewers.)

McNulty Irish Dancers (March 5)

For the Irish-American family, dance is a great way to stay connected with one’s heritage. McNulty’s Irish dancers deliver powerful performances of beautiful dances of Ireland. This program believes Irish Dance is an art form to be cherished, passed on to our children, and shared with the world. Irish dance offers tremendous opportunities to all students, regardless of cultural or ethnic background.

Mutts Gone Nuts (March 25)

Back by popular demand, a performance featuring 9 amazing mutts in a 75 minute canine extravaganza, “Mutts Gone Nuts”. Witness the unbelievable as these once discarded dogs jump, dance, dive, flip, trip, slip and skip their way right in to the audience’s hearts.
