As the largest center of economic development in the State of Illinois outside of the City of Chicago, Schaumburg is a frequented destination for business travelers attending meetings, conferences, and corporate events. Not only is Schaumburg “The Place for Business,” it’s also bustling with plenty of things to do after business hours.

Grab a Bite

You’re off the clock. Now what? Head over to the Woodfield Mall area for bountiful options of great cuisine and drinks. Craving Italian? Chicago Prime Italian is a family-owned restaurant known for its Italian comfort food and robust Happy Hour. Want to enjoy a beer? Granite City Food & Brewery is an award-winning, handcrafted micro-brewery with a laid-back atmosphere sure to quench your thirst. If you’re looking for a more unique experience, try Shabu-You, an all-you-can-eat Japanese Hot Pot restaurant with robots delivering food straight to your table, or venture into the residential area of Schaumburg to try Village Tavern, a local favorite with famous chicken fingers, which you can see for yourself in Meet Chicago Northwest’s video.

Catch the Game

You won’t have any hardships finding a spot to watch the big game, but you may have a hard time choosing just one. Schaumburg has several restaurants, bars, and even an arcade that sports fans flock to on gameday. Enterrium, which is located at Woodfield Mall, is a massive video arcade, bowling alley, and restaurant serving up made-from-scratch dishes and game-day specials. City Works is another gameday favorite with 90 craft beers on tap from over 30 local breweries and 16 extra-large HDTVs, so you’ll never miss a play.

Blow Off Some Steam

After a particularly long afternoon of meetings, you may want to get out and relieve any pent-up energy. Hit some balls at the award-winning Schaumburg Golf Club during the warmer months or opt for indoor putting at X-Golf and Topgolf. With pickleball rising in popularity, the Schaumburg Park District offers several pickleball facilities in addition to its tennis, racquetball, and handball courts throughout the village.

Wander Through Woodfield Mall

The expansive Woodfield Mall located in Schaumburg, Illinois is one of the biggest malls in the United States. Whether you’re looking for a gift or shopping for yourself, the mall has a wide variety of stores to fill all your needs (and time). In addition, its growing dining pavilion offers a wide variety of dining options, like Stans Donuts + Coffee, Falafill East Mediterranean Kitchen, and even Tapville Social, a “drink while you shop” self-serve kiosk where you can pour your own drinks.

Take a Breather

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle, there are plenty of outdoor recreation facilities in the area. Head over to Busse Woods for 13 miles of paved walking and biking trails, an elk pasture, fishing opportunities, and seasonal canoe rentals. The Schaumburg Park District also maintains over 60 beautiful parks and open spaces throughout the village, including Volkening Lake, which is a popular destination for walking, paddle boating, and its outdoor fitness area.

Getting Around Town

Don’t worry if you don’t have a rental vehicle – Schaumburg has plenty of transportation options to get you where you need to be, including an abundance of rideshare options, like Lyft or Uber, and public transportation. If you’re staying in the Woodfield area, the village’s Woodfield Trolley is a free and convenient way to travel from the Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center and Hyatt Regency to surrounding restaurants and stores in the Woodfield Mall area.
